01 / QUICK START
Is the game already installed?
The rest is taken care of by AGE X.

Download AGEX.zip, extract all files and run install.bat.

Close the game. Select the folder containing aos.exe and click Install. Python is installed automatically if needed.

After installation, launch the game normally through Steam. The old AGEX.exe is no longer needed.
AGE X fixes mouse control in the installed client. This is not a complete game. Check SHA-256 ↗
WHAT IS IT / HOW IT WORKS / TRANSPARENCY
AGE X is a set of readable scripts for an existing Ace of Spades installation on Windows 10/11. It is not the full game. After installation, launch the game through Steam; a separate AGEX.exe is unnecessary.
install.bat runs bootstrap.ps1 in PowerShell with ExecutionPolicy Bypass for that process only. It does not change the permanent PowerShell policy. The script looks for Python 3.10+ with Tkinter and opens install.py, where you select your game folder.
bootstrap.ps1 downloads Python 3.13.12 from python.org, verifies a valid Python Software Foundation digital signature, and installs it for the current user in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\AGEX-Python313. It does not change PATH or install pip or the separate Python Launcher. The temporary installer is deleted; Python remains installed.
When you click Install, the installer adds scripts to aos.pkg or the archive embedded in aos.exe, depending on your game build. It also replaces png/ui/ugc_splash.png, title_and_copyright.png and splash.png. Original files and their SHA-256 hashes are saved in .agex-script-backup inside the game folder before changes are made.
runtime/mouse_input.py changes mouse handling in the game window using Windows Raw Input to address stuttering. It runs inside the game after the modified archive loads, without injection into another running process. The +legacymouse launch option disables the fix. When debugging is enabled, mouse diagnostics are written locally to logs/aos_mousefix.log.
On its first successful application, runtime/first_display.py selects the current screen resolution, enables fullscreen and saves the game settings. It stores a completion marker in %LOCALAPPDATA%\AGEX\display. runtime/equipment_menu.py allows all tools to be selected in the client menu; actual availability in a match is determined by the server.
runtime/server_marker.py sends an AGEX-LAUNCH/1 service message to the connected game server. If player.txt exists in the game folder, its key is read and included in that message. The server you join receives this key: do not share it with other players. The version marker alone is not proof of client authenticity. Python downloads contact python.org; normal game and Steam network traffic continues separately.
Before running anything, you can read install.bat, bootstrap.ps1, install.py and the installer/ and runtime/ files in the extracted AGEX.zip. The SHA-256 link below lets you compare the archive with its published checksum; it does not replace code review. To undo installation, close the game, run install.bat again, select the same folder and click Restore files. This restores files to their state before the first installation with this installer, which may already include older modifications. Backups, Python and display settings remain. Do not run the old AGEX.exe afterward: it can overwrite these fixes.
